Russell founded Collect Alpha in 2025 to provide data consulting services to auction houses, marketplaces, investors, collectors, and more in the global collectibles industry.

Prior to founding Collect Alpha, Russell founded Altan Insights in 2020. The venture-backed data and research company provided industry-leading analysis on the collectibles market and was widely cited by outlets such as Axios, Bloomberg, Reuters, Business Insider, and more.

Prior to founding Altan Insights he spent a decade working with hedge funds and broker dealers while at Wall Street financial technology firms Bloomberg and REDI (acquired by Reuters). He is an avid collector, mostly of sports cards and sports memorabilia. Russell holds an MBA from NYU Stern.
